Originally, Stithton Baptist Church was located in Stithton, Kentucky. It was organized after prayer and a sermon presented by Dr. Basil Manly of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. The body adopted a church covenant, articles of faith, and rules of decorum. Rev. R.W. Jones was the first pastor and preached his first sermon on February 19, 1887.
